The objective of the 2022 ComputeFest: BEDROCK DATA SCIENCE is to provide you with the fundamental skills in math, statistics, and programming that you will need in order to undertake a course in machine learning, data science, or AI.
You will begin with the basics of Python, statistics, linear algebra, and calculus, and then apply those basics to topics like Numpy, Pandas, probability and statistics, derivatives, and optimization.
At the end of the course, you will have the tools to tackle a rigorous course in machine learning, data science, or AI, along with the confidence and hands-on training you’ll need to take your learning to the next level.
BEDROCK DATA SCIENCE takes place live in daily two-hour sessions over 9 days. Led by IACS Scientific Program Director Pavlos Protopapas, the program will give you access to a team of teaching fellows, live Q&A, personalized break-out sessions, and a library of resources.

LIVE INSTRUCTION
Take a break from the pre-recorded classes and get a real-time education. Hosted by the Institute for Applied Computational Science at Harvard University, you will have live access to top-tier teaching staff and a team of Teaching Fellows.
codecast
Learn to code in real time as you follow along with an EdSTEM codecast. Ask questions, troubleshoot mistakes, and learn how to apply your lessons to concrete examples with live Q&A.
HANDS-ON LEARNING
Numpy? Python? Linear regressions, distributions, simulations?
If any of these leave you baffled or in the dark, BEDROCK is the perfect place for you to begin your journey into Data Science.
